The Tweedle Dee is probably the black sheep of our OTS series. That being said, we thought it was such a great sounding amplifier that we had no choice but to add it to our lineup!
With a quick look, it’s obvious the Tweedle Dee is NOT your typical Overtone. In fact, the only similarity is who originally offered this amplifier (if you were famous enough, handsome enough, and was born on the right day of the week).
In fact, the Tweedle Dee has more to do with a Tweed Deluxe, because it’s a modified 5C3 circuit.
Compared to a 5C3/5E3, the Tweedle Dee is faster, louder, and has more headroom AND more distortion available. When cranked, it holds together much better than a typical Deluxe. It still has the fatness of a Deluxe, but the flatulence has been filtered out. As is typical with other amplifiers by this legendary builder, the phase inverter has been massaged to provide a pretty exciting harmonic content not experienced in your grandpa’s Deluxe.
